I just read an interesting article about a list of movies that received ratings below 3.0 on Letterboxd, but according to Reddit, they are actually great movies!
The article listed ten different films, such as “The Room”, “Troll 2”, and “Showgirls”, that have gained a cult following despite being critically panned. The author argues that sometimes these poorly-rated movies end up being hidden gems that we overlook due to their reputation.
This reminded me of a movie I watched on a whim a few weeks ago called “Killer Klowns from Outer Space”. I had heard it was terrible, but I found it to be so bad that it was actually good! The cheesy special effects and over-the-top acting made for an entertaining watch.
Overall, this article is a reminder that we should keep an open mind when it comes to movies and not always rely solely on reviews. Sometimes, a movie rating isn’t a reflection of its true quality. It’s worth giving some of these “bad” movies a chance, you might just find a new favorite!
