So, I just read this super interesting article called “17 Times Movies And TV Lied About How Actors Look” and it’s pretty wild. Basically, it highlights all the times Hollywood has used tricks to make actors look a certain way on screen - like using prosthetics, CGI, and camera angles to make them appear taller, thinner, or more muscular.
One example the article gives is Tom Cruise’s height - apparently, he’s only 5’7” but in movies like “Mission Impossible” they make him look taller through all sorts of camera trickery. Another example is Chris Evans, who played Captain America - they used a fake chest to make him look bulkier than he actually was!
It’s crazy to think about how much of what we see on screen is actually a complete fabrication - but I guess that’s just the magic of movies.
Personally, I remember being shocked when I found out that Zach Galifianakis was wearing a fat suit in “The Hangover”. I always assumed he was just naturally that big and it made me appreciate his performance even more knowing how much effort went into it.
Overall, I think it’s important to be aware of how movies and TV can manipulate our perception of beauty and body image. It’s not realistic or healthy to expect everyone to look a certain way, and we should celebrate diversity and individuality instead.
