So, I was reading this article about the 2024 Ford Mustang GT and Dark Horse, and boy was it a doozy. Basically, they’re getting hit with gas guzzler taxes because of their fuel economy, or lack thereof.
In a nutshell, the article states that these two iconic American muscle cars are exceeding the government’s fuel consumption standards, which means they’re now subject to extra taxes. I mean, we all know that these cars aren’t exactly known for their fuel efficiency, but it’s still a bummer that they’re getting hit with even more fees.
On a personal note, I’ve always been a fan of the Mustang. My dad had a classic ‘67 that he used to take me cruising in when I was a kid, so it holds a special place in my heart. But I can’t deny that as a society, we need to start thinking more about the environmental impact of our vehicles.
At the end of the day, this article raises some important questions about the trade-offs between performance and fuel economy. It’s definitely something to keep in mind next time you’re in the market for a new car. Can you have both power and efficiency? Or will we have to make some compromises? Only time will tell.
