Ari Aster pranks Midsommar audience by showing them his brand new movie, instead

So I just read this crazy article about Ari Aster, the director of the horror flick Midsommar. Apparently, he played a huge prank on the audience at a screening by showing them his new movie instead. How wild is that?

Basically, Aster set up a secret screening of his new movie, which is supposed to be even scarier than Midsommar. He invited a bunch of people to see what they thought was a special director’s cut of Midsommar, but instead they were shown a completely different movie called “Beau Is Afraid.” Apparently it’s about a kid who’s scared of everything, which is pretty ironic considering the fact that Midsommar was already pretty terrifying.

I gotta say, I have mixed feelings about this prank. On the one hand, it’s kind of genius. I mean, imagine thinking you’re about to watch one movie and then getting hit with something completely unexpected. But on the other hand, I feel like it’s sort of mean to mess with people’s expectations like that. I know I would be pretty annoyed if I shelled out money to see a specific movie and ended up watching something totally different.

All that being said, I think it’s really interesting to see directors taking risks and trying new things. Horror is such a unique genre because it really allows filmmakers to push boundaries and get creative. And to be honest, I’m kind of intrigued by this “Beau Is Afraid” movie now. Who knows, maybe it’ll be the next big thing in the horror world.

Overall, I think this article is a reminder of how fun it can be to step outside of our comfort zones and try new things. Whether you’re a movie director or just an average person looking for a thrill, taking risks can lead to some pretty cool outcomes. Even if those outcomes involve getting pranked by Ari Aster.
