The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) star, Chris Evans, is set to star in a new movie called ‘Ghosted.’ But unlike his superhero roles, he won’t be the one doing the saving this time around. In fact, Evans likes being the one being saved in this movie. The film will be a romantic action-comedy in which Evans’ character, Jack, is kidnapped while on his honeymoon in Greece. His wife, played by Scarlett Johansson, will then have to set off on an action-packed adventure to save him. Although he has played heroic roles in the past, Evans found the experience of playing the damsel in distress to be refreshing. According to him, it allowed him to showcase a different side of his acting abilities.
‘Ghosted’ is not the first time that Evans and Johansson have teamed up for a movie. They previously worked together in the hugely successful Avengers franchise, where they played the iconic characters of Captain America and Black Widow respectively. Fans of the MCU will be delighted to see the two stars reunite once again, albeit in a very different kind of movie.
The notion of reversing gender roles in movies is not a new one. However, it is still relatively rare to see male actors playing the damsel in distress instead of the hero. ‘Ghosted’ could be seen as a breath of fresh air in this regard, as it subverts the typical Hollywood narrative that men should always be the heroes, and women should always be the ones getting saved.
Overall, ‘Ghosted’ is looking like it will be a fun and entertaining movie to watch. The fact that it features two of the biggest stars in Hollywood only adds to the excitement. The film will likely prove to be a hit with moviegoers, and it may even inspire more movies to explore the idea of gender role reversal.
