So, I just read this article about how Hulu is no longer moving forward with their planned series adaptation of the book “Devil in the White City”. This was pretty surprising to me because the book has a huge following and is really interesting.
Basically, the series was going to be based on Erik Larson’s book, which tells the true story of a serial killer in the late 1800s who used the Chicago World’s Fair as a cover for his horrific crimes. The book is super detailed and reads like a thriller, but Hulu has decided that the show just isn’t in the cards anymore.
It’s a bummer because I was really looking forward to seeing the story come to life on the screen. Plus, Leonardo DiCaprio was set to produce and star in it, which would have been awesome. But I guess we’ll never know what could have been.
It’s interesting to see how the entertainment industry works and how sometimes even the most highly anticipated projects don’t come to fruition. Maybe there will be a chance for another network or streaming service to pick up the project down the line.
Overall, I think it’s important to keep in mind that not everything we’re excited about will happen, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy the book or create our own stories inspired by it. Who knows, maybe someone will write an even better book or come up with an even cooler idea for a true crime series.
