Attention all fans of the cult-classic film “Galaxy Quest” - Paramount+ has officially announced that they are in the early stages of development for a TV series that will take viewers on a new intergalactic adventure!
According to sources, the new series will be a continuation of the beloved sci-fi comedy that first graced our screens back in 1999. The show will reportedly follow a new crew of actors who find themselves propelled into outer space, mimicking the plot of the original movie.
While details on the plot are still scarce at this point, it has been confirmed that the original “Galaxy Quest” film’s co-writer, Robert Gordon, will return to pen the script for the TV series. It’s also been rumored that some of the original cast members may make an appearance, although nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
For those unfamiliar with the film, “Galaxy Quest” starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, and Alan Rickman, among others, and told the story of a group of actors who portrayed a crew of space adventurers on a popular TV show. When real aliens mistake them for the genuine article and ask for their help in defeating an evil alien race, the actors must take on the challenge in a hilarious adventure filled with references to classic sci-fi franchises like “Star Trek”.
With the recent wave of nostalgia-inspired TV revivals like “Cobra Kai” and “Saved by the Bell”, it’s not surprising that “Galaxy Quest” is getting the small screen treatment. Fans of the original film are sure to be over the moon about the new series, and it will be exciting to see where the story takes us.
All in all, it’s an exciting time to be a “Galaxy Quest” fan, and we can’t wait to see what antics our new space crew will get up to. So buckle up and get ready for takeoff - this new series is sure to be one wild ride!
