I just read this wild article about a potential Harry Potter TV show on the ‘TV’s Top 5’ podcast! Apparently, some execs have been tossing around the idea of turning the beloved book series into a streaming series. Crazy! The podcast hosts debate the pros and cons of adapting the story for TV, including the pressure to live up to the success of the film franchise and the potential for exploring more of the Wizarding World.

As someone who grew up obsessing over Harry Potter (and re-reading the books almost annually), I have mixed feelings about this potential TV show. On the one hand, I’d love the chance to see more of Hogwarts and its magical characters, but on the other hand, I wouldn’t want the show to ruin my childhood memories of reading the books.

At the end of the day, it’s important to remember that these types of adaptations can be hit or miss. Look at the Percy Jackson movie series that completely botched the books. But then again, look at Netflix’s adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events, which did a pretty darn good job. Overall, it’s exciting to think about the possibility of revisiting the Wizarding World through a new medium, but fans (including myself) will definitely be holding our breaths to ensure it gets done right.
