So, I was reading this article about John Wick 4 and apparently Keanu Reeves had to cut a ton of dialogue in the new movie. It caught my attention because I’m a huge fan of the John Wick franchise, and let’s be real, who doesn’t love Keanu Reeves?
Basically, in an interview with Collider, Keanu revealed that he had to make some tough decisions about what dialogue to keep in the movie, saying “I had to kind of… not re-write but just cut so much that you wanted to keep.” Apparently, the reason for the cuts was to make the film more action-packed and to focus on the character’s actions and movements rather than his words.
As someone who’s seen the first three John Wick movies, I can totally see why they might want to do that. The fight scenes are what make the franchise so iconic, after all. But I do wonder how much story they’ll be able to convey without as much dialogue. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see when the movie comes out.
Overall, I think it’s interesting that Keanu is such a big part of the creative process for these movies. I feel like a lot of times, actors are just there to say their lines and look cool, but Keanu seems invested in making the movies as great as they can be. Plus, he’s just a cool dude in general, so I’m always happy to hear more about him.
So, there you have it. John Wick 4 is gonna have less talking and more fighting, which is exactly what we all want, right?
