Latter-day Saints shouldn’t see R-rated movies? Well, there are some that ‘all people of faith should see.’

I just read an interesting article about how Latter-day Saints shouldn’t automatically shy away from R-rated movies. It turns out that there are actually some films that people of faith should see!

According to the article, it’s not necessarily the rating that determines whether a movie is appropriate or not, but rather the content. If the film contains themes that can help us better understand the human experience, then it’s worth considering. For example, a movie like Schindler’s List, while it’s rated R for its graphic violence, is also an incredibly powerful and important film that can help us learn about the atrocities of the Holocaust and how one man made a difference.

Of course, that’s not to say that all R-rated movies are worth watching. Some are purely for shock value and contain gratuitous sex, violence, or language. That’s where discernment comes in. We should be mindful of what we expose ourselves to and how it might affect us spiritually and emotionally.

Personally, I think this is an important topic to discuss because it challenges us to think critically about the media we consume. We shouldn’t just automatically dismiss something just because of its rating, but we should also be aware of the potential impact it could have on us.

All in all, I think the takeaway here is that it’s up to each individual to decide what they’re comfortable watching. We should be aware of what we’re exposing ourselves to and how it aligns with our values and beliefs. And hey, maybe watching an R-rated movie once in a while isn’t so bad after all!
