So, there’s this juicy article that just dropped about Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez. You remember that whole drama where Tory got charged with shooting Meg back in July? Well, Meg finally spoke out about it for the first and last time.
Basically, she explained that there were people online accusing her of lying about what happened, and she wanted to set the record straight. She said that she didn’t tell the cops about being shot initially because she was scared for her life, and she didn’t want to get anyone in trouble. She also emphasized that she didn’t do anything to provoke Tory, and that he shot her for no reason.
Now, I know some people might brush this off and say, “oh, it’s just celebrity gossip”, but I think it’s important to pay attention to these kinds of stories. It’s not just about two famous people beefing with each other. It’s about the way that Black women’s stories are dismissed and invalidated all the time. Meg was brave to speak out and tell her truth, and we should all respect that.
Plus, it’s a reminder that even though we might listen to and enjoy these artists’ music, we don’t really know them or what they’re going through. It’s a sobering thought when you realize that people we put on pedestals can be just as flawed and hurt as the rest of us.
Anyway, that’s my two cents. What do you think about all this drama?
