Menudo member alleges father of Menendez brothers raped him

The Menendez brothers’ trial in the early 90s was one of the most sensational criminal cases in American history. Now, a former member of the popular Latin boy band Menudo is claiming that the father of Lyle and Erik Menendez, who were convicted of killing their parents, sexually abused him when he was just 16 years old. Carlos Olivero, who was a member of Menudo from 2007 to 2009, says that José Menendez performed oral sex on him in a New York hotel in 1986. Olivero alleges that Menendez offered him $5,000 to keep quiet about the incident.

Olivero made these allegations in a TikTok video that went viral, and he has since spoken to news outlets about his experience. Olivero emphasized that he is not trying to gain fame or money from these accusations but simply wanted to share his story and encourage others to come forward if they have experienced sexual abuse.

Sexual abuse is an unfortunately common occurrence, and the Me Too movement has highlighted the extent to which it can permeate different industries and affect individuals from all walks of life. The fact that this story involves a high-profile case and popular public figures only underscores the importance of speaking out against abuse and giving a voice to survivors.
