So, I just watched the trailer for MERCY, and it’s got me both intrigued and a little on edge. Basically, the movie is about a group of siblings who reunite to help their mother through a health crisis, only to uncover some dark family secrets along the way. It’s a thriller/horror type of vibe, so if you’re into that kind of thing, this might be up your alley.
One thing that really stood out to me was the cast - Frances O’Connor, who plays the mother, is someone I’ve always admired as an actress, and it’s cool to see her in a lead role like this. Plus, there are a few other recognizable faces like Janeane Garofalo and Dylan McDermott.
I’ve seen my fair share of family dramas play out in real life, so I can only imagine how intense things can get when you throw in a layer of mystery and tension like this movie promises. But at the same time, I think these kinds of stories can be really powerful - they force us to confront our own demons and confront the things that may have been swept under the rug in our own families.
Overall, I’m intrigued enough to want to check out MERCY when it comes out. I won’t say it’s my favorite genre, but I think there’s definitely a time and a place for a good scare. Who knows, maybe this movie will even help me appreciate my own family drama a little more.
