Met Gala Newsmakers: Anna Wintour, Serena Williams, and More

The Met Gala, fashion’s biggest night out, took place on September 13 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The theme for this year’s event was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” and it brought together some of the most influential figures in the industry, as well as A-list celebrities.

Some of the people who made headlines during the event included Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue and the co-chair of the Met Gala, who arrived in a floral gown by Oscar de la Renta, which paid tribute to the late designer who passed away in 2014. Serena Williams, who is also a co-chair, made a statement in a bold, feathered Gucci coat dress that was inspired by the American West. Another standout was actor Dan Levy, who wore a custom Loewe ensemble that featured an artwork of two men kissing.

But the Met Gala was not just about fashion. It was also a platform for celebrities to express their views on social and political issues. For instance, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the US Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district, wore a white dress that bore the message “Tax the Rich” in red letters. She later explained on Instagram that she chose that outfit to spark a conversation about wealth and class in America.

Overall, the Met Gala showcased the creativity and diversity of American fashion and culture, and it reminded us of the power of fashion as a means of self-expression and social commentary. Whether you care about fashion or politics, there was something for everyone to appreciate and learn from at this iconic event.
