So, I just came across this super interesting article about the new workplace comedy series called ‘American Auto’. It’s centered around the lives of workers at a failing automobile company in Detroit, and boy does Michael Benjamin Washington bring on the laughs!
The show is produced by the same team behind ‘Superstore’ and has a similar vibe - it’s a lighthearted look at the challenges American workers face in today’s economy. The premise is simple: the team has to figure out how to save the troubled auto company or face losing their jobs.
What I found particularly fascinating was how the show tackles real-life issues such as unionization, immigration and wage inequality in a funny and relatable way. It’s refreshing to see a comedy show that doesn’t shy away from heavy topics but still finds a way to keep it light.
Additionally, Washington’s portrayal of a determined worker who doesn’t take corporate BS is so on point, it reminds me of my own experiences dealing with unreasonable bosses. Even when the odds are stacked against him, he manages to keep a positive attitude and make me laugh at the same time.
Overall, ‘American Auto’ is a great reminder that humor can be a powerful tool in tackling tough subjects, especially when it comes to the American workforce. It’s definitely worth checking out and I can’t wait to see where the series goes from here!
