Netflix Subscribers Q1 2023: Password Crackdown, Ads

So, I just read this crazy article about Netflix that you’ll want to hear about. Apparently, they’re cracking down on password sharing in their Q1 2023 update. This means that if you’ve been mooching off your ex’s Netflix account, you might be out of luck soon. Admittedly, I may or may not be guilty of that myself…

But that’s not all. Netflix is also considering adding ads to their service. Yep, you heard that right. We already pay for a subscription and now we might have to sit through ads too? Not the ideal situation for binge-watchers like us.

In addition to these bombshells, the article also mentions that Netflix may be developing a new high-end subscription that would offer access to even more exclusive content. Maybe that’s their way of making up for the crackdown on password sharing and ads?

As for my take on this, I think the password sharing issue is understandable from a business perspective, but it’s definitely a bummer for those of us who rely on it. And while I’m not thrilled about the idea of ads, I’m hopeful that the additional subscription tier could offer some cool new content. Overall, it’s always interesting to see how Netflix is evolving and adapting to the ever-changing streaming landscape.
