So, I stumbled upon this article about Oregon and it’s kind of bleak. Essentially, the state is struggling with a serious homeless crisis that’s leaving residents feeling scared and frustrated. Housing costs are skyrocketing, while high taxes and violence are also driving people to look elsewhere for a better quality of life.
According to the article, a lot of residents are packing up and moving to states like Idaho, Utah, and Texas, where the cost of living is lower and there’s a greater sense of safety and security. It’s sad, but not surprising. I mean, I’ve heard stories from friends who lived in Portland and how hard it is to find affordable housing.
Of course, this isn’t just an issue specific to Oregon. Homelessness and affordability problems are plaguing cities and states across the country. But I think this article is a good reminder of how important it is to pay attention to these issues and advocate for change.
On a personal note, I’m just glad I live in a city where I don’t have to worry about those kinds of things. But my heart goes out to those who aren’t as fortunate. Hopefully, more can be done to address the root causes of these problems and give people the opportunity to build a better life.
