I read an interesting article titled PETA Releases Response After LOTR’s Rings Of Power TV Show Reveals Horse Died During Production. Basically, the animal rights organization, PETA, made a statement in response to news that a horse had died on the set of the upcoming Lord of The Rings series. The statement pointed out that horses are often put at risk during film and TV productions, and highlighted the importance of ensuring their safety.
While I understand the importance of animal safety on set, I couldn’t help but think about a time I was on a horseback riding trip with a friend. It was supposed to be a relaxing trail ride, but my friend’s horse suddenly bolted and she fell off, thankfully without any major injuries. It made me realize how strong and potentially dangerous horses can be, and how much trust we put in them when we ride or work with them.
Back to the article, it’s worth noting that the LOTR production team said they took safety precautions, but accidents can still happen. It’s important to acknowledge the risks that come with working with animals on set, and take steps to minimize those risks. Hopefully this incident will lead to more discussion and action around animal safety in the entertainment industry.
