So, I just read this super interesting article about how Curtis Sittenfeld, the author of “Prep” and “American Wife”, struggles with procrastination while writing. Apparently, instead of doing proper research for her books, she falls down a rabbit hole of celebrity gossip and ends up wasting hours on it.
Basically, Curtis Sittenfeld was interviewed and admitted that she has a hard time focusing when it comes to writing, which honestly, I can relate to. It’s so easy to get distracted by the internet or social media these days. But what I found really surprising was that instead of doing research for her books, she often turns to celebrity gossip instead.
It’s interesting to see how even well-known writers can face similar struggles as the rest of us, but it’s also a reminder of how important it is to stay disciplined and focused when it comes to our work. I know from personal experience that distractions can be a major impediment to productivity, and it’s something we all need to work on improving.
Overall, I think the takeaway here is that while procrastination may be tempting, setting clear goals and avoiding distractions is crucial in order to produce quality work. I definitely plan to take this lesson to heart and try to stay more focused in my own work.
