Rachel McAdams turned down a string of huge movies – and we should all be thankful

Rachel McAdams has been in the industry for over two decades, but she could have been part of many mainstream movies that we often hear about today. However, she decided to turn them down, and in the end, it may have been the best decision for her.

McAdams declined the female lead role in the movie ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, which eventually went to Anne Hathaway. She also passed on the role of Pepper Potts in the ‘Iron Man’ franchise, which made Gwyneth Paltrow a household name. McAdams could’ve played the iconic character of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which went to Scarlett Johansson, and she also turned down the lead role in ‘Mission Impossible III’.

Passing up such big opportunities might seem like a risky choice, but Rachel’s career choices have always been unique. Her career may not have the power of Marvel or Disney behind it, but she deserves credit for taking on fulfilling and challenging roles in unconventional or arthouse movies. McAdams has acted in movies like ‘Spotlight’, ‘Disobedience’, ‘The Little Prince’, and many more.

In an industry where big-budget movies usually steal the limelight and headlines, Rachel McAdams’ decisions serve as a reminder that sometimes, it takes courage to take the road less traveled. A successful career is not always just about how many big roles one had, but it’s also about how one wants to be perceived and what one wants to achieve.

In the end, Rachel McAdams’ choices were beneficial for her, and we should respect and appreciate that. We should all learn from her that saying no to something lucrative or popular is not always a sign of failure, but it can be a significant step towards success, both personally and professionally.
