Rift grows between Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and House Speaker Dade Phelan over how to cut property taxes

I just read an article that caught my eye about a beef between the Lt. Gov. of Texas, Dan Patrick, and the House Speaker, Dade Phelan, over how to cut property taxes. Long story short, Patrick is pushing for a deeper cut in property taxes than Phelan wants and the two are butting heads. It seems like this could have a big impact on Texans, especially those with high property taxes.

Personally, I’ve dealt with the headache of property taxes before. My family and I own a small business and we had to fight tooth and nail to get our property taxes lowered because they were totally outrageous. I can’t imagine what it would be like for families with less resources trying to do the same thing.

The article brings up a lot of good points about how these disagreements between politicians impact real people. It also shows how even folks in the same party can have different approaches to solving the same problem. It’s important to pay attention to this kind of thing because it affects our daily lives.
