Rosie Napravnik's thoughts on The Kentucky Derby & Oaks morning workouts

So, I came across this really interesting article about Rosie Napravnik’s thoughts on The Kentucky Derby & Oaks morning workouts. Apparently, Rosie is a retired jockey who made history by becoming the first woman to win the Grade I Kentucky Oaks in 2012 and rode in the Kentucky Derby multiple times.

In the article, Rosie talks about how important it is for horses to have a solid workout in the mornings leading up to the big race. She believes that it not only helps them physically, but mentally prepares them for the atmosphere and the noise of the crowds during the actual race.

What struck me the most was how she talked about getting to know the horses individually and figuring out what works best for each of them. She also emphasizes the importance of communication between the trainer and jockey to work out a plan for each horse’s morning workout routine.

I totally get how crucial these morning workouts are for racehorses. I used to work at a barn and would watch the horses go through their morning routines, and it was always fascinating to see how each horse had its own unique personality and needs.

Overall, the article was a great reminder of how much goes into preparing a horse for a big race like The Kentucky Derby & Oaks, and how much love and care goes into the sport of horse racing. Whether you’re a fan of the sport or not, it’s important to recognize the dedication and hard work that goes into it.
