Steven Spielberg Regrets E.T. Censorship; Movies Shouldn’t Be Changed

So, I stumbled upon this article about Steven Spielberg’s regrets on censoring E.T. and it really got me thinking. Basically, Spielberg realized that movies shouldn’t be changed at all, no matter how uncomfortable or inappropriate they may seem. I mean, I totally get where he’s coming from. It’s crazy how much art can be altered or censored for the sake of political correctness.

According to the article, Spielberg was disturbed by how some things were edited from E.T. just to avoid offending anyone. He felt like that really compromised the integrity of the movie, which is why he now regrets it. I guess he realized how important it is to tell stories as they are, without compromising creativity or forcing political correctness.

As someone who really enjoys movies, I definitely agree with Spielberg’s stance. I think it’s important to recognize that sometimes movies can be edgy or taboo, but that doesn’t mean they are any less valid or thought-provoking. Plus, censoring them can lead to a loss of the movie’s original artistic vision, which can really detract from the overall experience.

All in all, it’s important to remember that censorship not only affects movies, but many other forms of art as well. It’s definitely a tricky subject, but it’s always good to consider how our actions can affect the bigger picture.
