So, I read this crazy article about a TikTok user who made a video showing her “life hack” for getting revenge on people who recline their seats on airplanes. Basically, she tilts her own seat back as far as it can go, and then turns on her air vent to full blast, blowing directly onto the head of the person in front of her.
Honestly, I can understand the frustration of having someone’s seat right in your face for hours on end, but this just seems really petty and mean-spirited. Plus, it’s definitely not ethical or considerate to intentionally make someone else’s flight uncomfortable.
Apparently, the video has gone viral and sparked a lot of debate about the etiquette surrounding reclining seats on planes. Some people argue that it’s a basic right to recline your seat, while others feel like it’s rude and inconsiderate to the person behind you.
Personally, I try not to recline my seat unless it’s really late at night or I’m on a long-haul flight, and even then I’m always conscious of the person behind me. I never want to make someone else’s flight worse than it already is!
Overall, I think it’s important to be respectful of other people’s comfort and space, especially in such close quarters on a plane. I don’t think retaliating with “life hacks” like this TikTok user did is really the answer. Instead, we should all try to be compassionate and understanding towards our fellow travelers and make the best of a cramped and sometimes stressful situation.
