Vote Planned On $15.2M Firehouse Project In Chappaqua: How Much Taxes Will Rise

Firefighters in Chappaqua, a hamlet in the town of New Castle, are desperately in need of a new home. With that said, the town board will be voting on a new $15.2 million firehouse project, with the main question being: how much will taxes rise?

According to a report by Patch, the proposal includes the demolition of the existing firehouse on South Greeley Avenue and constructing a new 22,000 square foot facility. The plan also entails the purchase of new equipment and an upgrade of the communication systems. The town plans to finance the project through bonding, and they will finalize the debt service plan as soon as the final costs have been determined.

While many citizens were excited to see the town finally address the issue, others are worried about the impact it will have on their wallets. A resident who spoke with Patch noted that they were, “concerned about the impact on our taxes with this, and other major projects in our town.”

The project has been in discussion for a while now, with setbacks that prevented its implementation before now. However, based on reports from the New Castle Town Board, they are confident that this time, they would be able to get it done.

In conclusion, this development is bound to affect Chappaqua residents in several ways. Still, with a reliable communication system and up-to-date equipment, the firefighters can perform their duties with the expectation of saving lives and properties in times of emergency.
