'World's Hottest Speed Skater' Jutta Leerdam Takes Her Off-Season Workouts Under Water

Jutta Leerdam, the world’s hottest speed skater, is taking her off-season workouts to the next level - underwater. Leerdam, who won five medals at the 2020 European Championships, has been posting videos of herself doing aquatic exercises on her Instagram page. Her workouts include swimming laps, jumping off a diving board, and using resistance bands to work on her strength and mobility.

These water-based workouts are a departure from Leerdam’s normal training regimen, which typically involves skating and weightlifting. However, the skater says that the change of pace has been beneficial for her fitness and mental health. “It’s nice to get outside of your comfort zone and try new things,” she said in an interview with Dutch news outlet NOS.

Leerdam is not the only athlete to incorporate water-based workouts into her training routine. Swimming and aquatic exercises are low-impact yet highly effective in building endurance, cardiovascular health, and overall fitness. Furthermore, the buoyancy of water offers a natural resistance that helps to strengthen muscles and improve mobility.

As we head into the summer months, many people are looking for ways to stay active and cool off at the same time. Incorporating water-based workouts into your routine could be an excellent way to achieve both goals. Whether you’re a professional athlete like Leerdam or just someone looking for a fun and effective way to exercise, aquatic exercises are definitely worth considering.
