Animal Aid of Tulsa, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats, is mourning the loss of a volunteer and several dogs who perished in a duplex fire on Wednesday night. The incident occurred in the area near 11th and Garnett in Tulsa, Oklahoma. According to local news reports, the fire broke out in one of the duplexes and quickly spread to the neighboring unit. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the structure was engulfed in flames. Unfortunately, four dogs and a cat were trapped inside and did not survive, and a volunteer who had been staying in one of the units also died.
Animal Aid of Tulsa expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss, saying that the volunteer, whose identity has not been released, was a dedicated and passionate animal lover who will be sorely missed by everyone in the organization. The non-profit also shared photos of the dogs who died in the fire, asking for donations to help cover the funeral expenses and to support their ongoing rescue efforts.
This heartbreaking incident is a reminder of the importance of fire safety and the need for awareness and preparedness. It is also a poignant example of the strong bonds that exist between humans and their pets and the impact that animal welfare organizations have on our communities. While the loss of a volunteer and the animals they loved is devastating, the work of Animal Aid of Tulsa and similar organizations continues, helping to give a second chance to animals in need and providing much-needed support to those who care for them.
