Charlotte County Sheriff's Office K9 wins Florida's deputy dog 'March Madness' tournament

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office K9, Edo, has been crowned Florida’s deputy dog champion in a March Madness-style tournament. The competition, organized by the Florida Sheriffs Association, saw 64 K9 teams from across the state compete against each other. Edo, who specializes in drug detection, took home the title after beating out 63 other skilled K9s. Edo and his handler, Deputy First Class Henry Lozano, have been working together since 2019 and have become a vital part of the sheriff’s office. The competition not only showcases the impressive skills these K9s possess but also highlights the crucial role they play in law enforcement. K9s like Edo help detect dangerous drugs and assist in locating missing persons and suspects. It’s important to acknowledge the dedication and skill of these law enforcement dogs and their handlers, who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. Congratulations to Edo and all the other K9s who participated in the tournament!
