A small terrier mix named Rascal was rescued from a sewer in New Rochelle after a local resident heard his cries for help. Rascal was dirty and scared, but otherwise unharmed. The rescue team took him to a veterinary clinic to be checked and found out that he was microchipped. The chip showed that Rascal was four years old and his owners were located out of state. However, they decided not to keep him, and Rascal is now up for adoption. Shelter staff say he is very sweet and well-behaved, and would do well in a home with older children or as a companion for an older person. This story is a reminder of the importance of microchipping pets and also highlights the need for animal adoption. Many animals like Rascal are in need of a loving home, and adopting an animal in need can be a rewarding experience for both the pet and the family.
