My first thought was, “Who on earth would do something so heinous?” Apparently, the dogs were being transported to a legal dogfighting operation in Zacatecas. Ugh, just the thought of someone putting these innocent animals through that is horrifying.
According to the article, the police received a tip about the truck, which led them to the discovery. Thankfully, they were able to rescue a few dogs that were still alive and sent them to a local animal shelter. I can’t imagine how heart-wrenching it must have been to see all those dead dogs in one place.
This is such an important topic to bring attention to because it sheds light on the issue of illegal dogfighting, which unfortunately still exists in many parts of the world, including Mexico. We need to continue to educate ourselves and others on the importance of treating animals with kindness and respect.
It’s a shame that some people see animals purely as entertainment or for profit, without any regard for their well-being. As a dog owner myself, I can’t even fathom the thought of my furry best friend being subjected to such cruel treatment.
