So, there’s a cool article I read earlier today about a black Labrador puppy named Major who’s about to become the Philadelphia Phillies’ newest teammate. Well, not exactly, but he’ll definitely be a part of the team. Major’s a service puppy in training, and his job is to assist the Phillies’ team therapist, director of mental performance, and generally be a cute and supportive presence around the players.
Apparently, a lot of MLB teams are starting to incorporate service pups into their programs. They provide comfort, stress relief, and even act as an icebreaker between players and staff. I think it’s great that teams are recognizing the importance of mental health and well-being, and it’s awesome to see Major getting his big break in the sport.
As someone who’s had a dog before, I know firsthand the therapeutic benefits they bring to our lives. It’s nice to see more and more organizations recognizing this and incorporating it into their programs. Plus, who doesn’t love a furry friend around the office?
All in all, I’m excited to see how Major does in his new role with the Phillies. It’s a win-win situation: the players get emotional support, and Major gets to live his dream of being a part of a major league team.
