So, I just read this article that’s quite interesting. The NYPD is allegedly planning on deploying robotic dogs to help with their patrols. Yeah, you heard that right - robot dogs! Apparently, they’re developed by a company called Boston Dynamics and can move like a real dog.
The bots, known as “Digidogs,” have four legs and are equipped with cameras and microphones, which means they can record and livestream whatever they see and hear back to the authorities. They’re supposed to be used for investigatory purposes and will apparently help prevent and solve crimes.
Now, for me, the whole idea of robotic dogs takes me back to my childhood when I watched movies like “Short Circuit” and “RoboCop.” Except, these Digidogs are real! I’m not sure if I’m excited or scared about this development. I mean, on one hand, it’s pretty cool to have these robot dogs patrol the streets and keep us safe. But on the other hand, it’s kind of creepy to think that there are cameras and microphones everywhere, recording our every move.
But, all in all, I think it’s important to keep an open mind about this advancement in technology. We’re living in a world where everything is becoming increasingly digitized, and it’s just another step in that direction. We’ll just have to wait and see how they perform and if they actually help prevent crimes. What do you think?
