Rescue Throws Adoption Party for Dog At Shelter for over 1,000 Days

The Humane Society of Tulsa recently hosted an adoption party for a furry friend named Pirate, who had been at the shelter for over 1,000 days. The event was created to give Pirate a chance to meet potential adoptive families and hopefully find his forever home. Pirate arrived at the shelter in 2017 and had been overlooked by hundreds of visitors, despite being friendly and well-behaved. To make the party extra special, the Humane Society decorated Pirate’s kennel with balloons and treats, and even baked him his very own dog-friendly cake. The party was a huge success, with dozens of people coming to meet Pirate and several families expressing interest in adopting him. Pirate has now found a new loving family, and the shelter’s staff is thrilled that he will be in a home after so long. This story is a reminder that there are many loving animals waiting for forever homes at animal shelters, and events like this can give them a second chance at finding a family. Shelters often have pets with all different personalities, so there may be the perfect pet for anyone who is willing to adopt.
