So, there’s this article that caught my attention about the upcoming show called Reservation Dogs that’s looking for extras for their Tulsa shoot. This show is all about Native American teens living on a reservation, and it’s being produced by Taika Waititi. If you don’t know who he is, he’s the guy behind Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit, so you know it’s going to be legit.
From what I gathered, the show is going to be a coming-of-age comedy that explores the lives of these teens while showing audiences what it’s really like to grow up on a reservation. But it’s not just any comedy; it’s one that’s full of heart and authenticity. I mean, it’s about time we get to see Native American representation in mainstream media, right?
Personally, I think this show is long overdue. Growing up, I didn’t see many people who looked like me on TV or in movies. It wasn’t until I found out about shows like Longmire and movies like Smoke Signals that I realized there was a demand for Native American representation in the media. And now, with Reservation Dogs, we’re finally getting it.
But back to the article. It’s incredible to see this show’s creators put in the effort to cast locals as extras for their Tulsa shoot. It not only gives back to the community and provides employment opportunities, but it also helps the show feel more authentic. I mean, who knows the area better than the people who live there?
All in all, I’m excited to see how Reservation Dogs turns out. It’s important for us to tell our own stories and have representation in the media. And who knows, maybe I’ll even try to be an extra myself. Fingers crossed they’re still looking when I visit Tulsa!
