Shear wave elastography evaluation of cats with chronic kidney disease - PubMed

So, I just read about a study that used Shear wave elastography to evaluate cats with chronic kidney disease, and it was pretty interesting. First off, I have to admit that I didn’t even know that cats could get kidney disease, let alone that there was a way to measure it using sound waves.

Basically, the study looked at how the stiffness of the cats’ kidneys changed as the disease progressed, and found that there was a significant difference between healthy cats and those with kidney disease. This information could be really helpful because it could potentially allow vets to diagnose kidney disease earlier and more accurately, which could lead to better treatment outcomes for our feline friends.

I actually have a cat myself, and while she’s thankfully healthy at the moment, it’s always good to know about new advancements in veterinary medicine. It’s comforting to know that if anything were to happen to her, there are experts out there working to improve the ways in which we can diagnose and treat our pets’ illnesses.

Overall, I thought this study was fascinating and I’m excited to see how these findings could be applied in the future.
