So I just read this article about how USI students are getting some much-needed stress relief during finals week by spending time with therapy dogs! It’s seriously so cute and awesome.
Basically, a group called Paws for Stress Relief brings in trained therapy dogs for students to interact with during finals week. The dogs are there to provide comfort and reduce anxiety, and students can play with them, pet them, and even give them treats. How amazing is that? I wish I had something like that when I was in college!
The article goes on to explain that studies have shown that spending time with animals can lower stress levels and improve overall well-being. Plus, it’s just really nice to have a cuddly dog to hang out with when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
I actually have a friend who brings her therapy dog to hospitals and nursing homes to visit with patients, and she always talks about how much of a positive impact her dog has on people. It’s really amazing to see how animals can connect with us on such a deep level and provide such comfort and support.
Overall, I think it’s so important for schools to prioritize mental health and wellness, and initiatives like this one are a great way to do that. I hope more universities and colleges start implementing programs like Paws for Stress Relief, because a little bit of puppy love can go a long way in reducing stress and improving overall well-being.
